What is the reason for our high success rate in treating melasma?
At MetaDerm, we customise your melasma treatment based on its clinical features. Detailed analysis helps understand the depth of your pigmentation and precisely target the melasma. Pigmentation can be deep, superficial, or even mixed. While chemical peels work well for superficial melasma, lasers are best suited for deep melasma.
Melasma Lasers
MetaDerm has the widest selection of lasers for pigmentation in all of South India. We have both Picoway and Picosure lasers that enable us to offer a very safe, quick, and cost-effective treatment for melasma. Melasma laser treatment uses gentle laser light to reduce pigmentation and stimulate collagen production for better skin quality.
Melasma Skincare
The correct mixture of pigment inhibitors is crucial for effectively treating melasma. We select the concentrations and ingredients specific to your skin sensitivity and melasma type. We use ingredients such as ascorbic acid, citric, lactic, glycolic, and retinoic acids, along with niacinamide, arbutin, liquorice root extract, and kojic acid for optimal results. We treat superficial pigment with chemical exfoliators to increase cell turnover.
Did you know that up to 50% of pigmentation can be faded with the proper use of sunscreen?
Melasma is highly sun-sensitive. Applying a good sunscreen (SPF 50+) twice a day can help you see a positive difference in 2 weeks. You can add pigment correctors, lasers, and melasma chemical peels for further improvement.
MetaDerm offers the best treatment for melasma by using pigment correctors, chemical peels, and lasers. We have a high success rate in effectively treating one of the most common causes of pigmentation – melasma.
Frequently Asked Questions
We curate your melasma pigmentation treatment after analysing the depth of your pigmentation, skin sensitivity, and flare factors. Next, we work on reducing your sun exposure. We carefully choose the concentrations and laser settings based on all these inputs, which results in our high success rate.
Most pigmentations respond better to specific lasers than chemical peels. Customising the settings to match the depth of pigmentation gives better results. For superficial pigmentation, chemical peels work quickly and effectively.
MetaDerm has two pico lasers – the Picoway and Picosure. Pico lasers work well for resistant melasma, mandibular melasma and dermal pigmentation. Precise usage of low-powered devices produces better results than high-powered lasers.
Microneedling can rupture the base membrane of the skin and push the pigment deeper into the dermal layers of the skin.
Compared to other melasma treatments, microneedling has more melasma rebounds. In the case of home microneedling, the use of 0.1mm needles increases the absorption of pigment correctors. However, clinics use deeper needles for the same treatment. When it comes to melasma, deeper needles are not a better option.
The two lasers that can result in a melasma flare-up are:
- Intense Pulse Light (IPL)
- Fractional lasers
Fractional lasers should always be used as the last treatment for superficial melasma and never as the first line of treatment.
